Known for the beauty of its landscapes, its radiant sun and its sweetness of life, Provence is equally famous for its colorful gastronomy. Provencal cuisine is a real explosion of flavors. It evokes mouth-watering dishes, sun-ripened vegetables and fruits, intoxicating smells, talented chefs, magnificent restaurants, and long, festive meals with family or friends. In summary, a tasty mix of generosity, beauty and gluttony.
Events all over Provence for the Year of Gastronomy
The Department of Bouches-du-Rhone and Provence Tourism have decided to make 2019 a year entirely devoted to Provençal gastronomy. Sponsored by the three-star chef Gérald Passedat, this gourmet event will take place all year long and will be punctuated by a multitude of prestigious events that will honor the richness of Provençal gastronomy.
From the spring, many festive and tasty events will be held: unusual dinners, giant picnics, culinary competitions, markets, banquets or exhibitions. Provencal cuisine will also have a worldwide impact with 150 embassies and 5,000 restaurants that will display exceptionally the colors and flavors of Provence.
In summer, Marseille Provence Gastronomy 2019 will make its festival across all Bouches-du-Rhône. A unique opportunity to discover the chefs, the best tables, the craftsmen of the food industry and all those who work to honor the gastronomic Provence.
Finally, the year will end with generosity, charity dinners will be prepared at a time when Christmas food is in the spotlight.
